![]() ![]() Given the prime location of L'Iceberg (sea front with bay views) I would have expected to be charged more than we were for what was a very good meal, and we will definitely be going back there a couple of times when we're back in September. Perfectly nice, well cooked and followed by a couple of really nice desserts. Next was a generous portion of moules-frites in a sauce of choice (roquefort, curry, mariniere etc). We started with 8 grilled sardines each, plain and simple with a little salad on the side, which were to die for. This place has a very extensive menu and it all looked quite good, but in the end we both plumped for the 'menu sardines' which was pretty good for the money paid. We were given a warm welcome by a lovely local lady who was our main waitress for the evening and could possibly also have been the manageress (we didn't ask but will do next time). As it was the first week of June the resort was quite quiet and there were probably a dozen or so tables in all evening. as we are staying at the beach on our next trip and it will be one of our 'locals', we thought we'd give it a go. I'll be honest, we have always overlooked most of the beachfront restaurants because we assumed they wouldn't necessarily be as good as some of the other restaurants in the village centre and might be overpriced, but. We have wandered past this restaurant dozens of times. It was impossible to get them to come to our table with a little card machine, so after another 15 minute wait we walked over to the poor overworked barman and he obligingly did the honours for us. We even had real problems paying the bill (having failed to catch the eye of anyone to take an order for coffee for at least 15 to 20 mins). The barman did a good job and we were served drinks reasonably quickly - but the waitresses bringing drinks weren't allowed to take food orders and this caused big delays and much frustration. But lots of customers were waiting a long time for service and food. When the meal eventually came it tasted very good and that's why I'm not giving this place a one star rating. over and insist they took our order! It's the same old French problem with so many of this type of beach cafe - they succeed in business because the location is so good, but the service is poor and the staff always favour their favourite customers and take their orders first and serve their meals first. We waited over 20 mins for anyone to take our order in this cafe style family-run restaurant. It ruined our morning out by frustrating us beyond measure. Famous for our Thick Shakes, Fries, and Hand-Breaded Onion Rings, but also serving freshly. ![]() Very disappointing lunch experience indeed.
